How To Make Barbecue Sauce (The Best Barbecue Sauce Recipe Ever!) Competition Style Barbecue Sauce (Kansas City Barbecue Sauce)
With grilling season almost over, I wanted to take this opportunity to squeeze one more recipe in from the world of barbecuing, just before the weather cools down a bit. This recipe is for what I call the best barbecue sauce ever! It may also be used as a competition style barbecue sauce. The judges will sure love this one!
For this recipe, you'll need:
For this recipe, you'll need:
Ketchup
Water
Apple Cider Vinegar
Brown Sugar
Sugar
Black Pepper
Onion Powder
Dry Mustard
Ground Chile de Arbol
Lemon Juice
Worcestershire Sauce
Liquid Smoke (optional)
In a separate container, mix together, the ketchup and water, add it to a pot, then add the dry ingredients: black pepper, sugar, brown sugar, chili powder, and then squeeze in some lemon juice, add the onion, and garlic powders, then the apple cider vinegar, along with some liquid smoke, and start whisking constantly, on high heat.
Once the bubbles start forming on the side, switch to a heat resistant spatula and continue mixing, so that the mixture won't catch a crust underneath, or begin to burn. Turn heat to medium, and continue mixing for the first thirty minutes.
Next, you'll switch the heat to medium low, and continue stirring for another hour, and you'll gradually notice the mixture has started to reduce, and thicken. Once it is to your desired thickness, turn off heat, and let sit, to room temperature, before transferring into the container of your choice. There are no exact measurements, as the recipe may be tweaked based on amounts needed, and individual taste.
